They laughed when we said we were going to India Beach Fashion Week.
The fashion industry has its rules, and one of the oldest was that “Resort Wear” meant synthetic chiffons, silks, or imported linens—never Khadi. When we announced that Amin Farista would be showcasing a Resort Wear collection made entirely of natural, indigenous Khadi at IBFW Season 4, the skepticism was loud. People told us it wasn’t possible. They said it wouldn’t “look right.” They said Khadi was too heavy, too rustic, or too “un-glamorous” for the sun-kissed sands of Goa.
We took those doubts and turned them into our creative fuel.

The Only One of Its Kind
Standing out in the fashion world often means going where no one else dares to tread. At IBFW Goa Season 4, Amin Farista was the only designer to present a collection using this hand-spun, hand-woven fabric.
While others leaned into the predictable, we leaned into the soul of India. We wanted to prove that Khadi isn’t just for the office or for formal events—it is the ultimate luxury for the beach.

The “Young Khadi – Resort Wear” Collection
On March 7th, the ramp in Panjim transformed. We showcased Khadi like it had never been seen before:
- Weightless & Breezy: We used finer counts of Khadi to create flowing silhouettes that caught the Goan sea breeze.
- Contemporary & Chic: From beach cover-ups to relaxed lounge pieces, the collection was high-fashion yet effortless.
- The “Wow” Factor: The organic texture of the fabric against the backdrop of the resort setting created a visual harmony that synthetic fabrics simply couldn’t match.
From Skepticism to Standing Ovations
The most rewarding part of the evening wasn’t just the final bow; it was what happened after the lights went up.
The very same people who had laughed at the idea—the critics who believed Khadi and “Resort” were antonyms—came backstage to offer their appreciation. They were shocked. Their perspectives had shifted 180 degrees. They saw that Khadi could be sexy, it could be fluid, and it could be the most comfortable thing to wear under the summer sun.
Changing the Narrative
That day in Goa wasn’t just about a successful show; it was a victory for our heritage. We didn’t just showcase clothes; we changed minds. We proved that our “Young Khadi” philosophy knows no bounds—whether it’s a city street in Hyderabad or a beach in Goa, Khadi is truly young, versatile, and forever for the young.
We came to Goa as the underdogs with a “impossible” fabric. We left having redefined Indian Resort Wear.
